Come and join the party! The Brigantes celebrate their third birthday playing jazz in this fun-filled, tune-packed concert at the City Hall.
This is the perfect moment to get back to the concert hall or visit for the first time.
Who could forget the sound of that clarinet gliding up to its bluesy top notes? So begins Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, the first fusion of classical music and jazz, and the centrepiece of this approachable concert for a warm summer evening.
An undiscovered gem, the Afro-American symphony by William Grant Still, the first symphony written by an African American, full of jazz harmony, dance and the sound of the early American musicals, up until the 1950s it was the most widely performed symphony in the US composed by and American.
