An Audience with Sir Michael Morpurgo at Sheffield City Hall

Oval Hall
An Audience with Sir Michael Morpurgo | Sheffield City Hall

Tickets £11, Concessions (Unwaged, Disabled, Under 18 & Armed Forces) £5.50 (inc. booking fee)

Sir Michael Morpurgo, one of the nation's greatest authors, is joined by broadcaster and Paralympian Ade Adepitan for an intimate and revealing conversation live on the Sheffield City Hall stage.

Sir Michael began writing stories in the early ‘70s, inspired by the children he taught in his primary school class in Kent. He has written over 130 books, including 'The Butterfly Lion', 'Kensuke’s Kingdom', 'Private Peaceful' and 'War Horse', which was adapted for a hugely successful stage production by the National Theatre and then, in 2011, for a film directed by Steven Spielberg.

But what about the real-life story of Sir Michael Morpurgo? How did a boy supremely uninterested in books, who dreamed of becoming an army officer, become a bestselling author and Children's Laureate? What stories in his own life motivated him to write more than a hundred books for children?

Join one of the UK’s best-loved authors as he shares his gift for magical storytelling and reveals the secrets nearly 50 years of writing have taught him.

This event is part of the Invictus UK Trials in Sheffield. Invictus UK Trials Sheffield 2019 will be taking place at various venues across Sheffield from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th July 2019.
Plus The Big Gig with Eliot Kennedy and headlined by Alfie Boe, with Heather Small, Charles Dance, Suggs and More.
