Nominate your hero with the X Factor
28 Oct 2011
This year's Sheffield Night of Honour Awards will definitely have the X Factor thanks to special guests The Reason 4.
Glenn, Marc, Nate and Scott from the popular band will attend the ceremony, due to be held at the Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall at Sheffield City Hall on Wednesday 30 November.
The heartthrobs, who started their career on ITV's X Factor stage last year, will be presenting accolades to Sheffield's champion child and the winner of the lifetime achievement award. Nominees, their families and friends will also be treated to a live performance from the band, who will sing two chart-topping songs.
A spokesman for the band said: "We are delighted and extremely thrilled to have been chosen to perform at the Sheffield Night of Honour awards. We have spent a lot of time in Sheffield this year recording our debut album and it now feels like our second home, so to take part in such a prestigious event, in honour of the unsung heroes of the city is a great privilege."
The Reason 4 released their first single 'Take It All' in August followed by a six-track album sampler for download as an introduction to their debut album 'Crying Out Loud,' which will be on sale in January.
At the heart of the event will be the city's unsung heroes who will be recognised for the difference they have made to the lives of friends, neighbours, work colleagues and their communities.
The award categories also include best community organisation, braveheart award, queen and/or king of customer care, best secret angel, best investor in children and best carer.
Hope City Enterprise, Sheffield Megacentre's registered charity, is the organisation behind the event. Night of Honour director, Louise Davies, said: "I am absolutely thrilled to welcome The Reason 4 to the Sheffield Night of Honour Awards line-up and I'm sure they will make it a night to remember for everyone who attends.
"The event is the perfect opportunity to honour all the nominees for their bravery, kindness and community spirit, and what better way to thank them than to provide top-class entertainment from such a great band?"
Last year's winners included Diane Wilson, 18, of Doncaster, who was rewarded with a Best Secret Angel award for her fundraising activities for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity. Champion Child Paige Holmes, of Belper in Derbyshire, was inspired by athlete Jessica Ennis to bravely overcome a brain injury and Stephen Downing was crowned Best Carer for his dedication to caring for people with mental illness at Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Louise will compere the event alongside brother and sister duo Beth Blois and Rob Ellerington and Reason 4 will be joined by young entertainers from the Hope City Theatre Company.
This year's event is sponsored by Specsavers at Crystal Peaks, UHY Wingfield Slater, @Home Childcare, The Source at Meadowhall, Sheffield City Hall, Hope City Church, Meganursery and Aerial Extreme.
Tickets for the event will be free for nominees. Additional tickets cost £6 and can be bought at the Sheffield City Hall box office
