Sheffield City Hall launched their new International Concert Season last week with a special Gala concert to celebrate their 75
th Anniversary featuring opera star Lesley Garrett.
The 75
th anniversary celebrations proved to be a huge success in more ways than one as the audience in the packed out concert hall were treated to a fabulous evening of music and dance, courtesy of Lesley Garrett and Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton du Beke and Erin Boag. In return the generous concert-goers raised almost £1,000 for the Sheffield Leukaemia and Blood Disorders Appeal.
Rather than purchasing programmes for the event, guests were instead invited by Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust, the charity running the leukaemia appeal, to make a charitable donation.
Emma Dickens, head of fundraising, for Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust, said: “We would like to thank the City Hall for allowing us to ask people for donations for the event programmes, and of course we would also like to thank everyone who made a donation. This generosity has taken us another step closer to reaching our target of £150,000, which will enable us to improve the care of patients with leukaemia and other blood disorders from across South Yorkshire.
The next event being held to celebrate the City Hall’s 75
th anniversary is the gala dinner on Thursday 1
st November. The Sheffield Leukaemia and Blood Disorders will be the beneficiary charity of this event. For tickets and more information call 0870 121 3690 or email
