Welcome to the Funk - Back to Back soul funk hits and more !

Pioneers of Dance, Funk, Soul, Rap and R'n'B The Fatback Band are the originators of the New York sound that has influenced so many. A career loaded with 35 albums worth of anthems, accolades such as invitations from the White House, being featured on the Sopranos and Sky TV UK's Revista de la Liga.

Recently Fatback played at the Southport Weekender, WOMAD in Reading & Spain, London's Jazz Cafe, The Baltic Soul Weekender, Marbella Jazz Festival, The Glastonbury Festival, The Italy Funk Fest and the O2 Indigno in 2009.

The FATBACK SONG King Tim III (Personality Jock) is considered to be the first commercially released rap single. As well as being a pioneering force in music Fatback are also pioneers in the innovation of dance-(Are You Ready) Do the Bus Stop is said to have contributed to the development of line dancing. Also including Double Dutch was a form of line dance.

Formed in New York City in 1970, The Fatback Band was the concept of Bill Curtis, an experienced drummer, inspired to merge the "fatback" jazz beat of New Orleans into a funk band. In addition to Curtis, the band's initial line-up included guitarist Johnny King, bassist Johnny Flippin, trumpet player George Williams, saxophonist Earl Shelton, flautist George Adams, and keyboardist Gerry Thomas. The band specialized in playing "street funk". The group also later included conga player Wayne Woolford, and saxophonist Fred Demerey, and guitarist George Victory. Fatback is the last of the great dance and entertaining bands, and celebrates the fact that before DJs existed, it was them who were making people dance, a skill they entertain to this day.

This an all big hits show including 'I Found Lovin', 'Spanish Hustle', 'Is This The Future', 'Back Strokin', 'Wicky Wacky', 'Yum Yum', 'Keep On Steppin' and 'I Like Girls'. Of course, the Fatback Band are also disco pioneers who have had many dance floor smashes and merge jazz and beats with a touch of West Indies & Caribbean style, and were awarded the Soul Survivors Magazine “Best Soul Concert” for 2013. With a raw street funk sound, the band comprises George Freeman, Desmond Humphrey, Darryl McAllister, Ledjerick Woods, Isabella Gordon, Zachary Guinn, Robert Lock and top drummer Bill Curtis.

Special Guest Natasha Watts

In September 2013 ..... Natasha was nominated for 'The Best New Soul Act' bySoul Survivors magazine .... Natasha won by a clear mile .......... This was voted for by the public and is a clear indication of how much she is loved ! This was to be the starting point for all of Natasha’s dreams to start coming true!

Natasha’s musical journey has resulted in only what can be described as an evocative musical journal, something she describes as “deeply personal, resonant and cathartic and it’s been in the making for some time now”. It appears that time has come and the album is tipped to fly and with prestigious house and soul label Cool Million supporting and producing it only validates and further cements Natasha’s soulful credentials. Recent regular plays on Jazz, Solar and Smooth FM respectively, also means, for once – you can believe the hype!

As a new and exciting musical journey opens up, join Natasha for the most soulful and funkiest ride of your life! Enjoy!
