The greatest entertainers in sport, the Harlem Globetrotters, are set to bounce in to Sheffield in June.

It’s the ability to blur the line between sport and entertainment that has seen the Harlem Globetrotters perform before more than 121 million fans in 117 countries since they were founded by Englishman Abe Saperstein in 1926.

The Harlem Globetrotters’ 2010 “Magical Memories” World Tour is the team’s 84th consecutive season of touring the world. They have played in 120 countries, on six continents, for more than 130 million fans. In their illustrious history, the Globetrotters have won over 23,300 games and lost just 345 (.985 percent).

Over the holidays, the team completed its 7th consecutive military tour, entertaining U.S. troops overseas on behalf of Navy Entertainment. On that tour, the Globetrotters introduced their first-ever camouflage basketball, specially designed by Spalding and representing the team’s appreciation for the sacrifices made by the men and women of the U.S. military.

The Globetrotters are in the midst of a five-year international marketing partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to grow basketball globally.

In October, the team signed a deal with Cookie Jar Entertainment, an industry leader in consumer products and entertainment, marking the first step in returning the team to animated television for the first time in nearly 30 years.

In the last year, the Globetrotters have appeared on primetime TV hits such as “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Jon & Kate Plus 8” and “The Bachelorette.” Plus, Globetrotters Big Easy Lofton and Flight Time Lang had an 11-episode top-four finish on the 15th edition of the Emmy Award-winning series, “The Amazing Race.”
